Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/4 cup shortening (or butter)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup sour milk (add about 1/2 tsp lemon juice, to make the milk curdle)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
Instructions
- Mix the first four ingredients well, then add the rest. Pour into about an 8″ x 8″ cake pan.
- Bake at 350′ for 40 – 50 minutes.
