Gingerbread
Ingredients
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp each, ginger and cinnamon
  • about 3 cups flour
Instructions
  1. Cream the butter and sugar, add the molasses and beaten eggs. Sift 1 cup four with spices and salt and add with milk to the first mixture. Dissolve soda in warm water (enough so that it is less thick than a paste) and stir into mixture. Then add enough flour to make batter stiff as desired.
  2. Bake at 350′ – 375′
  3. Makes about 3 dozen large cupcakes or 2 loaves.
