Gingerbread
Ingredients
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp each, ginger and cinnamon
- about 3 cups flour
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar, add the molasses and beaten eggs. Sift 1 cup four with spices and salt and add with milk to the first mixture. Dissolve soda in warm water (enough so that it is less thick than a paste) and stir into mixture. Then add enough flour to make batter stiff as desired.
- Bake at 350′ – 375′
- Makes about 3 dozen large cupcakes or 2 loaves.
